We at The Barbican in Drogheda are proud to host a Book Launch, Recital and Signing for
Our Diligent Souls by Emer G.M. Lawless.
Our Diligent Souls took four years to reach its completion, Emer, a writer and resident of Dundalk, has this to say, ‘It was a deeply enlightening process though arduous, it took enormous commitment, but the book itself was the greatest benefactor of time.’
Since the online launch on Amazon at Easter, the book has been awarded much praised; ‘A book to be savoured over a long weekend, a poignant insider’s view of the modern Irish psyche told through this vivid, richly portrayed tale. A bittersweet, honest, thought-provoking novel of real human substance.’
The book launch, Recital and Book signing will take place here on the 13th of July between the hours of 7-9pm and is free of charge with a wine reception.
Emer promises to deliver an insightful and enjoyable evening as she brings to life the characters and dynamics of the book, through abstracts and her many working observations. ‘Our Diligent Souls is a book of business, of love and friendship, of extended family, a witty and relatable account of the times that we live in. You will not fail to be entertained.’
‘The ideologies and idiosyncrasies of the characters are authentic, the locations new to the literary world with Shelbourne Park, and St Georges Market in the frame. The philosophy for me in a literary sense is simple; assist and protect, shine a light on immersive humour, highlight underappreciated avenues, avoid the stereotypical and hit home with verve. The aim to create chapter by chapter a book that you just can’t put down. Have I achieved that, I dearly hope so?’
